PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field.
Our body’s processes rely on the energy in our cells. When a cell is not well, its energy level is lower. It’s like when your phone battery is low and doesn’t work properly. Similarly, our cells need energy for metabolism, getting nutrients, eliminating waste, functioning well, and making new cells. The strength of this cellular energy affects our overall health and ability to recover from illness or injury. In simple terms, PEMF helps recharge our cellular “batteries” so our body can function better and heal faster.
PEMF is a great way to manage pain without any surgery or side effects. It works by directly affecting nerve cells that signal pain to our brain. It also has anti-inflammatory effects, reducing pain, especially in treating stiff and swollen muscles. Using PEMF can quickly improve flexibility and increase the range of motion, providing immediate relief.
For bone fractures that haven’t healed properly, PEMF is particularly helpful. It utilizes electromagnetic waves to make biochemical changes that speed up the formation of new bone, aiding in the healing process.
Beyond pain relief, PEMF therapy has been found to help with mental health conditions like depression. It has also been used as a treatment method for various chronic health issues such as arthritis, cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, autism, diabetes, and many more.

Dr Christopher Lauria D.C. has been a practicing Chiropractor for over 23 years. He spent much of his childhood in his father’s home chiropractic office so he knew at a very young age that chiropractic would be his future. He loved watching how much better people felt after receiving his father’s care.
Dr. Lauria completed his undergraduate work at the University of North Carolina where he competed for the Tar Heels on a baseball scholarship. He received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College in Atlanta in December of 1993.
He practiced in his father’s office in Toms River, N.J. for 4 years before moving to Roanoke and opening his practice here in 1997.
Dr Lauria developed a special interest in treating the most severe cases of neck pain, back pain, and sciatica. He has spent many post graduate hours in the specialized treatment of herniated, bulging, and degenerative discs. He spent many hours searching for the best non- surgical treatment protocols for these conditions.
Dr Lauria is now a member of a nationwide group of practitioners called Disc Centers of America. The protocols and research of these centers includes the most state of the art treatment plans with the highest success ratios that Dr. Lauria could find available. When you’re having a local PEMF treatment, you just lie down on a pad connected to a device that gives out pulsed magnetic field therapy.
This device creates electromagnetic pulses that travel through the pad and into your body. It could help with conditions like neuropathy or arthritis when using PEMF therapy.
These pulses work to wake up your cells and make your blood flow better.
After each 30-minute session, your cells get recharged, helping them work their best. This leads to real improvements for everyone, whether it’s for pain in Walnut Creek or dealing with inflammation through PEMF therapy and more.
